The Aquitaine is one of the biggest regions of France and stretches from above Arcachon down into the South-West and the popular coastal towns of Biscarosse, Messanges and Biarritz.
Probably most well know for the `Dune du Pilat', the largest sand dune in Europe, Arcachon is a popular coastal resort and its beaches have huge appeal to all who visit the town.
Further south and lying close to the Spanish border are Biarritz, Bayonne and St Jean de Luz. Known as the Basque region, you find yourself surrounded by pretty houses in picturesque towns and villages. Biarritz is the capital of surfing and enjoys a lively atmosphere. |
