Camping in the Loire

Camping Holidays in the Loire

Awash with medieval history from the Maid of Orléans (Joan of Arc) to the flamboyant Francois I, the Loire and the surrounding valleys are steeped in history and fine chateaux. From the monumental splendour of the Château de Chambord to the dreamy Azay le Rideau, this really is a region of visual delights. Camping holidays in the Loire have long since been a favourite with our guests.

Visit the old medieval city of Tours with its fine gothic cathedral and lively narrow streets, or sample the world famous wines from Sancerre, Saumur and Anjou.

Nearby is the Grand Park Puy du Fou amusement park with thrilling rides, Roman circus games and jousting knights! A trip to Futuroscope is also worth a visit with 360 degree cinemas and a theme park.

Loire Camping Holidays - Self Drive

The Loire Valley is easily reached from most ferry ports. The drive from Calais to Chenonceaux will take approx 5 hours or from St Malo to Saumur, a little over 3 hours. If you do decide to break up the journey up or have an early ferry crossing, it's a good idea to book an overnight hotel.
