The largest town Lake Geneva is Thonon-les-Bains and is a good base from which to discover the surrounding area. East of Annecy is the imposing and impressive Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak. The Tramway du Mont Blanc takes you to the Nid d’Aigle, one of the best places to see the mountain in all its glory. At the base of the mountain is the lively, year-round resort of Chamonix. Surrounded by lush, green meadows and crisp blue skies, the town offers every activity possible ranging from walking and cycling to horse-riding, hot-air ballooning and para-gliding.
