The Loire Valley is divided from east to west by the Loire River and has an abundance of glorious chateaux, picturesque villages and some of the most famous wines in the world.
The Chateau de Chenonceau is a superb building and perhaps its most impressive feature is the set of arches that straddle the river Cher. Inside there is a vast array of tapestries, paintings, portraits and furniture. Also home to some of France's most famous Chateaux are Azay-le-Rideau and Saumur.
A visit to the Loire region would not be complete without sampling some of the world famous wines of offer. The vineyards cover many different terrains from gravel terraces in Chinon to the steep slopes of Sancerre and wine-tasting can be done anywhere from small museums to the prestigious Maison de Sancerre and the Villa Quincy. |
