The Alps on the eastern border of France is home to some of the most stunning scenery and landscapes.
The Savoie and Haute-Savoie departments encompass the towns of Annecy, Chamonix, Samoens and Evian and many other mountain resorts that should be the number one choice for those seeking a high activity holiday whether it is skiing during the winter month or cycling, walking and mountain climbing in the Summer.
Annecy is just a short drive from Geneva. A place of tranquillity in the spring, and a hive of activity in the summer. Lake Annecy has a 35km shoreline and is dotted with picturesque villages and sandy beaches. The old town is stunning and is most famous for the old prison or Palais de l'Ile. The very busy Sunday market in the Old Annecy is superb with vendors selling everything from fresh fruit and local cheeses to delicious pastries or hand-made jewellery.
Located on the banks of Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman to the French), Evian is a popular spa town and of course the birthplace of the natural mineral water. The largest town near Lake Geneva is Thonon-les-Bains and is a good base from which to discover the surrounding area.
We have selected a number of hotels in and around the French Alps: whether you wish to stroll around the cobbled streets of the Old Annecy or venture into the mountain villages we are sure to have something to suit your needs.
