If you have a culinary sense of adventure and are seeking a property full of quirky charm, Locanda del Principato - with its very own restaurant - has all the ingredients for an unforgettable holiday.
Standing on the outskirts of the small village of Panicarola, near the southern shores of Lake Trasimeno, this property was once a watchtower. Today it is a cluster of higgledy-piggledy farm buildings converted into three small, simple apartments. These are full of character and include uneven terracotta floors and misshapen chestnut beams (please note that some doorways and beams are lower than standard). There is also an attractive swimming pool with jacuzzi area and sitting out area for guests.
The owners have a delightful little restaurant situated on the ground floor, below the apartments. It is open three evenings a week to club members and guests only. There is no menu and no indication of what will arrive until dish upon dish of tantalising speciality starters and pastas start to appear. At the end of the evening you can help yourself from more than 30 different types of homemade grappa! When three meals are taken our guests can enjoy a special fixed price.
