The seaside resort of St Jean-de-Monts is just a few miles to the north. Its wide sandy beach is perfect for children of all ages. Further afield you can visit the marshlands of the Marais Poitevin and the ancient port of La Rochelle with its cobbled streets, fortified harbour and many bars along the waterfront.
